Bombers Lose 4-3 in Shootout

The Bombers have had a bit of a struggle against the sister clubs Storm and the Smoke in recent days. The last two Storm games have been 1 goal affairs, with the Bombers winning 1 in a shootout and losing the other in regulation. When the Smoke came in it was more of the same-a 4-3 shootout loss this time in another game the Bombers had well in hand early.

The Bombers built up a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Bill Auld and Neil Van der horn's 2nd in three games. A strong 2nd period by the Smoke saw that lead evaporate. and the Smoke took their first lead 1:30 minutes into the thrid when Bill Geddes went end to end to make the score 3-2.

Always the battler, Brian Kostrowski scored to tie it for the Bombers with a little more than 5 minutes remaining. A late battle led by some tenacious effort by Rober' Auld in the Smoke zone yielded some excitement but no goals and the clubs were headed toward a shootout.

Pete Giordano, playing his first game for the organization, substituting for an absent Josh Rayho, let up only one goal in the shootout. Unfortunately for the Bombers, none of their shooters could figure the Smoke keeper.

"Yo Ahab, whose next for the Bombers?"-oh that's right-the Whalers.
