The Whalers took a 3-0 lead in the third period after what was a closely contested match in the periods prior. But the Bombers, ever ready for a comeback, tied the game with just over 2 minutes play after third period goals from Kappmeier, Lupe Poltorak and Bill Auld all of which were assited on by Mike Gilbert, Jr.. A shootout looked to be in order until the Whalers again took the lead with under a minute when a flukely redirected seeing eye puck found thel lower stick side of goaltender Burke.
Unfortunately the game ended on what looked to be a significant arm injury to a Whaler player that required EMT medical attention. The entire Bomber organization sends out thier best wishes to a speedy recovery for the Whaler foward.
