Valley Sports Staves Off Elimination in Shootout

Having already fallen to the Agents in game one, a loss vs the Bombers in game two would mean an early exit from the Bomber Challenge Cup-sponsored by Praxinet for Team Valley Sports. And Valley looked poised to punch their ticket to the final by building a commanding early 3-0 lead in the contest.

But the Bombers were tournament hosts after all and not prepared to go down without a fight. The Bombers scored the next two goals and with the goalie pulled, left winger Jimmy Lawson scored off a pass from Bill Auld with 19 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 3.

The 4 on 4 overtime produced many shots for Team Valley Sports, but Bomber goaltender Josh Burke was up to the task.

That meant the first shootout in tournament history would determine whether Team Valley Sports still had life or was out of the affair all together.

The Bombers failed to score in their 3 attempts on Valley's goaltender du jour Krazy Kyle. Bomber killer Silk Hoyer did manage to fool former friend Josh Burke on Valley's first attempt and that was enough.

Team Valley Sports final chances were still alive.

Next game- Bomber v Agents-Saturday 9:15.
