The Puck Pimps have never played the Bombers in their team's history. They were excited as indicated by Pimp forward "Huggy Bear" Dupree when he said "That's the Bombers over there. Now I've made it as a hockey player."
The Puck Pimps used that excitement to jump on the Bombers early, scoring the first two goals of the game. "We always get an opponents best game. Every team is looking to take a crack at the storied franchise." said Bomber D-man Mike Gilbert, Sr. The Bombers were able to even the score by the end of the first but were never able to get lead falling eventually to the Pimps by a 6-5 score. A frenzy of activity with the goalie pulled provided hope but not a score in the final seconds.
The Bombers, shorthanded with injuries, played as the "Crazy Eights" for the 5th time this season. In the end a few more healthy bodies might have made the difference for the home team but don't look for the Bombers to use that as an excuse. "We could have won with more guys, but we still could have won with the eight we had." said Bomber Bill.
So redemption will have to wait until Sundays contest with the Red Dogs- a team the Bombers thought they had beat in their first meeting until letting up two late third period goals.
