Bombers Put out Fire

6-5 may have been a closer score than they wanted but the Bombers still put up a solid effort in defeating the Metro Fire on Sunday night. Perhaps inspired by the appearance of Mike Gilbert,Sr behind the bench who is still on the DL, the Bombers had a balanced scoring attack that saw 2 goals each from the 3 foward lines. Only a few untimely team defensive lapses let the game get closer than it should have for the storied franchise.

Rich Moss rejuventated the historic "Kid Line" with his first game in over a month. Mark Bochner reaped the benefits scoring 2 goals. Brother Dave added 2 helpers on the night to reestablish this line as one of the premier trios in the league.

The "Time Line" was also intact for the first time in a while with all three members netting points. Simpson from Rosenberg and Rober'-how many times has a commentator uttered those words in various orders over the past 10 years!!

And not to be left out, the newly formed Auld,Lawson,Van der horn line whose nickname has yet to be coined, provided production scoring 2 goals and 4 points. Van der horn's burying of a Bill Auld rebound in the 2nd period tied a game that the Bomber's never trailed afterwards.

And don't let the 5 goals against fool you, the D core was solid as well breaking the puck out of the zone in exciting fashion. Rookie defenseman Adam Lapinski seemed to be benefitting from the veteran tutelage of Superstar Johnny Z as was evident in the play of the pair in all 3 zones.

Josh Burke saw plenty of shots and after letting up 2 early scores was primarily in control for the rest of the evening.

So its on to Dallas Wrecking on Thursday.
