The Bombers were unceremoniously knocked out of the B3 playoffs, losing to the Puck Pimps by a 3-2 score on April Fools Day. The Bombers held a 2-1 third period lead but a tenacious Pimp team tied it up with just under 9mins remaining in the third.
Then Bill took a stupid penalty-they scored-we lost. Sorry boys!
The Bombers not only said goodbye to the playoffs, they said Hasta la vista to the playoffs old delapidated barn known as BSA. The Bombers are taking their pucks and moving to the luxurios Aspen Ice Rink in Flemington, NJ. There will be an adjustment period for the Bombers as they get used to flat ice that doesn't snow up after 5 minutes. Another tweak will be getting used to having all the lights at the rink.
The Bombers started their existance 20 yrs ago this November at BSA, the facility that brought ice hockey to the county of Somerset in 1993. But things soon fell apart at the friendly confines and the Bombers and many other clubs moved across the street to the Chimney Rock Ice Rink. And of course eventually they moved to the lovely Rock Ice Rink in Dunellen (really Plainfield). The Bombers lasted two games at the Rock before bailing for their new home of nearly 7 years the Twin Oaks Ice Rink. Back to BSA for a championship in 09 and most of the remaining season until the playoff ouster the other night. Know one knows exactly what Aspen will bring for the organization. What we do know is the storied Bomber franchise is about the players that don the jersey and not the place they play.
Good luck in another chapter Bombers. Viva
le Bombers (in my best Lupe' voice)!!!!!
