Wha Happened?
The Bombers were poised to go 9-4 on the season by bringing home a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night. But the Red Dogs showed true grit pulling their goalie and tieng the game with 16.8 seconds left to play. A jubilant Red Dog squad had managed to force the shootout against a team they lost to by a 9-2 score earlier in the season.
The Bombers were forced to regroup which is easier to do when you have one of the best breakaway goalies in the league. "We are always confident with Josh on a breakaway chance against." said Bomber Rober. "He learned that from the days in Twin Oaks when we would usher the forwards in on breakaways. He probably has nightmares of those days." added left winger Gary Simpson.
But the shootout did not go as planned and the game was lost when Bill Auld's shot beat the keeper but rang off the post and lay uncermoniously on the ice outside of the net's confines.
So the Bombers were only able to notch a point when they thought they had two in what was a well contested match between the two proud clubs.
