Bombers and BlackBearStars Face Off
On Sunday night, the Bomber Hockey Club won the midwinter tradition known as the Bomber Challenge Cup sponsored by Praxinet. Adding the trophy that bears their name to the long list of accomplishments for the storied franchise was rewarding for the players.
The game was billed as a "friendly" and pretty much played to that form. The Bombers beat the BlackBearStars 4-3 to take home the title. Superstar Johnny Z, in his first game back from surgery, scored the first goal of the evening. Two more by Mike Rosenberg and one by the Captain was enough for the Bombers to build a comfortable 4-1 lead with minutes remaining. The BlackBearStars weren't finished though and did score 2 goals late. But with only 4.7 seconds left following their third tally, the BlackBearStars didn't have the magic play needed to force the game to overtime.
After the game the Bombers dedicated their victory to their fallen teammate, Jimmy Black who passed away last week.
