Bombers To Return to Twin Oaks-as Champions

The Bomber Hockey Club will play its Fall 2009 season at Twin Oaks, a rink that it had played more than 200 career games.

Both Twin Oaks and Bridgewater Sports Arena, the league where the Bombers just completed a championship season, were in intense negotiations for adult hockey's most storied franchise. But in the late hours of September 6th it was apparent that BSA's offer would not be accepted by the Bomber GM.

So for the first time in many years it looked as if the Bombers would take a season off to mull other more inviting offers. "That's when the phone rang and it was Twin Oaks. They said they were creating an opportunity for us." said the GM. What they offered was what they called a true C-league with past poachers Team Scandic, the Mountaineers and the Rock franchises all moving on to different leagues. The very existence of the league hinged on the marketability of the Bombers. No other teams signed up until they were sure the Bombers were on board.

So only time will tell if the league will be as advertised-an evenly matched group of C-league franchises, vieing for the Twin Oaks championship with the sportsmanship it deserves. (then again it could be a freak show. Only time will tell.)

The Bombers upper management hinted at a return to BSA in the summer to defend its Summer C-League Championship. Stay tuned.
