Kostrowski On Fire

Brian Kostrowski is, dare I say, en fuego. The blueliner has 6 goals in the first four games of the season, eclipsing his total of 5 in the Spring season. 2 of those goals game in a 6-3 dismantling of an upstart Comeback Kids on Sunday. "The surprising thing was they had very little comeback in them." said Bomber keeper Josh Burke, adding "They tried some verbal comebacks but even those were weak."

Burke's comments perhaps reflect the sentiment that the Comeback Kids were not the most sportsmenlike club the Bombers have faced in recent years. As an example, during the middle of the 2nd period the Kids #74 Joe Rega recieved a 2,10 and eventually a game misconduct for mouthing off to the official.

And once it became evident that the Comeback Kids had no shot at the comeback the disrespect continued until eventually a post game handshake was ... well...too much for them to handle. Comments about the Bomber's age classification were fast and furious, but handshakes were not as forthcoming.

The Bombers have been around the block a time or two and as such were unaffected, perhaps also inspired by the fan base that showed up to support the squad. "That was a sellout crowd for us." said the Bomber GM. Even original Bomber captain Paul Kostrowski was in the stands, waving to crowd that revere the Bomber legend.

Bombers Red,White,Blue,Gold . . . & Black?

Bomber management has engaged in preliminary discussions with former Bomber blueliner Tom Black to make a return to the team after being away from the game for 4 1/2 years.

Bomber captain Bill Auld commented "Tommy's a hockey player. I know he had some injuries and hasn't played in a while but I'll take a 75% Tom Black anyday. He would be a great addition."

All that remains is doctor's clearance which could come as early as Tuesday. If that goes well Black could return to the lineup for the Monday Oct 31st vs the Storm.

Burke, Kostrowski, Jr Lead Bombers to Win

Josh Burke, fresh off signing a sponsorship deal with 5hr energy allowed the Bombers to build up a healthy lead against a Red Dog squad that came out quick to start the game. Brian Kostrowski, seeing loads of ice time in recent games, returned the favor with spirted play and a bunch of points. Kostrowski helped the Bombers back to the win column with 2 more goals in Sundays 5-2 win vs the Red Dogs, giving the blueliner 4 goals in the first 3 games of the season.

Jean Eric Hoyer also netted 2 goals to go along with 1 assist to help the cause. Loop Poltorak scored his first of the season as the Bombers improved their early season record to 2-1.

Dave Smith and Mike Gilbert, jr were in the lineup after missing the first two games of the season. Jr marked his return by assisting on three of the teams 5 goals and Smith provided much needed support to a D-line that was forced to play many more minutes than they should.

Whalers Come up Large Against Bombers

The Whalers proved to the Bombers that you can't win all your games with only 6 skaters. The 10-2 shellacking of the Vudoo was a distant memory as the Bombers fell to the Whale 7-2 at their Sunday Oct 9th matchup.

Another valiant effort by the duo of Kostrowski and Zimnoch who did not take a rest for the entire contest (except for 2min breather in the sin bin for BK).

The Bombers will look to increase their numbers and their winning percentage with when they face the Red Dogs on Tuesday October 11th.

Vudoo Have No Spell on Bombers

The Bomber Hockey Club opened the BSA B3 Fall/Winter season in impressive fashion, destroying an overmatched Vudoo Club by a 10-2 score. Jean Eric Hoyer(5g3a) and Bill Auld (4g4a) led the way with 8 points each. Rober' helped with 4 tallies of his own and John Zimnoch (4a) and Brian Kostrowski (1g,1a) commanded a presence from the D-line. A short bench meant that Zimnoch and Kostrowski had to play iron men with no substitutions the entire game.

Josh Burke's contract had not yet been finalized prior and Bobby Wolfe was called up from Peoria to fill in. But the Bombers started strong with 6 first period goals, and let of the gas almost entirely by the third period. The Vudoo had jumped up a division and unfortunately did not have all their personnel available due to another scheduling snafu from the Bridgewater Sports Arena. "I am sure they will be better next time we play them. Lot of good guys on that squad who will be up for the task." said Bomber captain Bill Auld.

Next up for the Bombers-a showdown with the high powered Whaler squad.
