Bombers Silence the Storm
In what was supposed to be hard fought battle for first place turned into a rout as the Bombers easily defeated the Storm 5-1 on Monday. The Bombers scored first, allowed the Storm to tie the game before leaving the first period with a 3-1 lead. Stout goaltending and defense partnered with strong offensive salvos from the Time and Fun lines recategorized the Storm into a tropical depression.
"This is the best we have played in quite some time. This whole season really." noted Tony D'anna who had a goal and assist. Bill Auld and Eric Hoyer had 2 goals each to complete the evenings scoring. Gary Simpson was also impressive even without scoring as he was a backchecking machine-closing off more than a few Storm scoring opportunites.
Josh Burke kept his miniscule 1.00 GAA average intact with a strong "First Star" showing.

Bombers Defeat Red Dogs
The Bombers have now earned at least a point in every game this season thanks in part to a convincing 7-5 victory over the Red Dogs. The Bombers had more control than the score would suggest with the Red Dogs scoring 2 goals late in the third period. Having scored 3 themselves in a minute and eleven seconds the game prior the Bombers were aware enough to put the lid on the Red Dogs offense and come out with the win.
"The Red Dogs are always tough. They are good." said Bomber capt Bill Auld. "It was good to put up seven on them."
The Bombers had to rely on a youngster John Keats, making his Bomber debut, for the netminder duties. "I will tell all my friends about this." said Keats refferring to the oportunity to play with the storied franchise. Keats showed poise by quickly bouncing back after allowing a goal on his first ever shot in the Bomber net. And with that poise came his first ever Bomber victory.
The scoring was led by Tony D'anna and Eric Hoyer who both notched two goals. Mike Rosenberg, Gary Simpson and Brian Kostrowski netted the remaining Bomber tallies.
Brian Kostrowski also skyvaulted into the PIM lead, getting a 10 min misconduct to go with 2 other 2 min minors. Bill Auld now has some wiggle room to work with for the remainder of the season.
